Is acupuncture safe?
When performed by a trained, licensed professional, such as Dr. Ann Covalt, L.Ac., acupuncture is extremely safe. Dr. Covalt exclusively uses sterile, disposable, one-time use needles, thus preventing any risk of infection or contagion.

Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are typically not much thicker than a strand of hair, and their insertion is either not felt at all or practically painless.

How many acupuncture treatments will I need?
Depending on the duration, severity, and nature of your complaint, you may need only a single treatment for an acute condition. A series of 4-8 treatments many resolve many chronic problems. And some degenerative conditions, such as diabetes or MS may require many treatments over time. To help reduce the number of treatments, Dr. Covalt will often suggest Chinese herbs, dietary modifications, relaxation techniques, or specific exercise regimes all of which will help to increase the efficacy of acupuncture and accelerate the healing process.
